A former NASA executive was found guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting of his next-door neighbor by a Virginia jury, according to reports.
Prosecutors argued that Michael Hetle, 54, also a former cop, was driven to murder after the homeowners association didn’t act on his complaints of noise, drinking, and other annoyances from his neighbor, Javon Prather, 24, according to The Washington Post.
Hetle said he acted in self-defense — and added Prather had threatened him numerous times, once with a knife.
Video obtained by Fox 5 DC shows the deadly confrontation: Prather approaches Hetle’s door. Hetle answers with seven shots in just six seconds.
Hetle faces life imprisonment and will be sentenced Jan. 28.
