Not the best news for the 76ers’ best player.
Philadelphia center Joel Embiid has a slight tear in his meniscus and will be out for the Sixers’ Game 5 matchup against the Wizards Wednesday night, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The star big man went up for a layup just minutes into Game 4 and took a nasty fall onto the floor, remaining down for several moments. He would leave the game and not return.
According to Wojnarowski, Embiid is “day-to-day,” and it appears there is a chance he will return during the series, should Washington force a Game 6.
The Sixers cruised to victory in the first three games of the series against Washington, winning them by an average of more than 20 points. However, they lost their first game without Embiid, and may need to clinch the series without him.
