Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau has been named NBA Coach of the Year, the league announced Monday.
In his first year as head coach of the Knicks, Thibodeau defied all expectations, leading the franchise to its first postseason berth in eight years.
The Knicks finished fourth in the Eastern Conference at 41-31 after being projected by many to finish last in the NBA.
Thibodeau’s team ultimately fell to the Hawks in the first round of the playoffs.
